Mrs. Brenda Kay Alexander, 65, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022.
She was born December 22, 1956 in Washington County, Virginia to the late Dewey and Cleatis Mitchell Whitehead. Brenda was a lifelong resident of the Brumley Gap Community and a member of the Brumley Gap United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife and mother who adored her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Judy Davis.
She is survived by her husband, June Alexander of Brumley Gap, Virginia; three daughters, Betsy Parris and husband Allen of Brumley Gap, Virginia, Amy Casey and husband Ronnie of Abingdon, Virginia, and Kaitlyn Duckett and husband Deven of Bristol, Virginia; three brothers, Don Whitehead of Brumley Gap, Virginia, Scotty Whitehead and wife Peggy of Abingdon, Virginia, and Kenneth Whitehead and wife Katherine of Abingdon, Virginia; two sisters, Patsy Spiva and husband Hobart of Abingdon, Virginia and Ann Mink and husband Frank of Meadowview, Virginia; six grandchildren, Matt Parris and wife Leigh-An, Adam Parris, Emily Casey, Logan Casey, Lucas Duckett, and Weston Duckett.
A visitation will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, Virginia. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Brumley Gap United Methodist Church with Caleb Rotton officiating. Interment will follow at the Counts Cemetery in Brumley Gap, Virginia where Wayne Alexander, Glenn Mitchell, Gary Litton, Clarence Gobble, Darrel Warren, and Michael Brewer will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice and Palliative Care of Virginia, especially to Mary, Kristy, and Jeannie, for the care given to Brenda during her illness.
