Billy Martin Sanders, 89, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Sanders was born July 19, 1929 to the late Eugene and Sarah Bland Sanders in Abingdon, Va. He served our nation in the United States Army. He received a Master’s Degree in Entomology from Rutgers University. After college, he worked for the federal government in Plant Pest Control for over 25 years. He was active in the Lions Club, enjoyed ushering at the Barter Theater and working part time at Washington County Schools. He had a well-known mug collection where he received a mug from every state and almost every country. He was also an active member in Green Spring and Sinking Spring Churches.
He was a devoted husband, and the best father in the world. He never met a stranger and would go out of his way to help anyone.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy ‘Dot” Warner Sanders.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Jean Saunders; grandson, Thomas Davis, his canine companion, Bubba.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5 PM until 6:30 PM, January 11, 2019 at Frost Funeral Home.
