Billy Joe Blevins, 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom he served faithfully on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 25, 1935, to the late Carson and Helen Blevins.  Billy was a life-long resident of Washington County. He served in the Army from May 5, 1960 to 1966. He worked at Johnston Memorial Hospital for 32 years as an orderly but the job that Billy Joe loved more than the others was to teach people about Jesus. In his free time, Billy Joe also enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. Over the years he made numerous friends and everyone loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Billy Joe is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Blevins and his son, Ted Blevins.

Survivors include, his loving wife, Yvonne; two daughters, Brenda and husband Danny Otey and Mary Jane Blevins; three step children, Melissa Wise and husband Tim, Marcia Taylor and husband Nate, and Rodney Dickens and wife Crystal; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Damascus Road Baptist Church with a service to follow at 7:00 P.M with Pastor Caleb Holman officiating. A committal service will be held at 11:00 A.M on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, VA. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army National Guard and the Marion VFW Post 4667.

Tommy Gregor, Tim Wise, Luke Neisius, Danny Otey, Gabriel Horn, and Junior Moody will serve as pallbearers. Bill Winters, Jerry Edwards, and Brian Edwards will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Because Billy Joe loved children, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by visiting www.stjude.org or by mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.

Frost Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Mr. Blevins.
