Betty Wayne Watson, affectionately known as "Granny Beck," passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the age of 91. A lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia, she was born to the late John William Bowers and Georgia Pearl Blevins Bowers.
Betty was a devoted member of Maple Grove Presbyterian Church and a cherished presence in her community. One of 17 siblings, she shared deep bonds with her family.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her seven brothers, Edgar Lee Bowers, James Clarence “Page” Bowers, William Roscoe “Shine” Bowers, John W. “Tobe” Bowers, E.H. “Nub” Bowers, Jackie “Tuff” Bowers and Ralph “Willie” Bowers; and eight sisters Daisy Marie Harley, Nora Pearl Harley, Nellie Delores Anderson, Ethel Dickenson, Eva Moore, Faye Lester, Margaret "Mag" Nash, and Katherine Ruth Dowell.
She is survived by her loving son, Harold Wayne Watson; two grandsons, Hunter Watson and wife Alicia, and Blake Watson and wife Tasha; and two very special great-grandchildren, Adaley Watson and Boone Watson.
Also left to cherish her memory are her dear sisters, Anne Roark, and Carolyn Tomlinson.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation in her honor at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, Virginia.
