Betty Sullivan Hayter, 85, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, Tennessee.
She was born August 9, 1937, to the late Odell and Doris Sullivan. Betty worked many for Farmer’s Exchange, Nations Bank, Sovran Bank, and retired from Bank of America as a mortgage loan officer. She was also co-founder and co-owner of Hayter Auction Company. Betty’s passion was rescuing and working diligently to provide forever homes for precious dogs and cats. Betty was a member of both the Animal Defense League of Washington County and Happy Tails Animal Rescue. For the last several years, Betty worked tirelessly for Happy Tails Animal Rescue where her compassion for animals will be remembered for years to come.
Betty is survived by her husband, Tommy Hayter; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Donald) Neely; stepson, John Wesley (Jackie) Hayter; grandchildren, Abigail, Olivia, and Sabrina Hayer; brother, Bill (Marie) Sullivan; two sisters, Nancy (Ed) Lethco and Sue (Bob) Dalton; many nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the home of Jennifer Neely, 29223 Rhea Valley Road, Meadowview, Virginia, 24361.
