Betty L. Kilgore, 92, passed away on December 3, 2025. Born on January 29, 1933, in Stickleyville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Litton and Nellie Litton Pannell. A 1949 graduate of Pennington Gap High School, Betty built her life with grace, strength, and a deep devotion to her family.
Betty first made her home in Duffield, Virginia, where she married her first husband, Jack Fannon. She later moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where she married George Kilgore in 1960 at Ghent United Methodist Church in Norfolk, VA where she is also a member. Betty and George shared 65 loving years of marriage. In 1997, they settled in Abingdon, where they continued to build a warm and welcoming home together. They joined Pleasant View Global Methodist Church.
A talented and creative woman, Betty enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and many other needle arts. Her handiwork and her gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack, and by her son, Kevin Kilgore.
Betty is survived by her husband, George Kilgore; her son, Sean Kilgore, and his wife, Denise; her sister, Patty Litton Darrell; her grandson, Kevin Drew Kilgore; and several nieces and cousins who will cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Frost Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 P.M., with Pastor Barbara Farmer officiating. A committal service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at American Legion Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, VA. with Pastor Jake Herron officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m.
