Betty Fields Duncan

Abingdon, Virginia

Betty Fields Duncan, age 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

Betty was born December 20, 1938 in Hayters Gap, Virginia to the late Howard and Ruby Fields. Betty was one of nine children. Betty was known for her love of animals and flowers.

Betty’s life was her love of family. She was married to Claude Duncan for 43 years. She was always ready for a shopping trip or a family get together. She could cook and bake all the old-time favorites. Her caramel cake was the best. She could sew like a dream and even made her nieces wedding gown along with the bridesmaid’s dresses. She was proudest of her number one job of being a mother.

She is survived by her two daughters, Teresa Duncan McCracken (Jeff Worley), Rhonda Duncan and Terry Davidson; granddaughter, Kelly Wherrey (Mike) and great-grandchildren, Brody Wherrey and Madison Wherrey; sister, Joyce Corell; brother, Jackie Fields and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Frost Funeral Home Chapel from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. with a service to follow. Family and friends will follow in procession to Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, Virginia.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

Acting as honorary pallbearers will be Brody Wherrey.

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Animal Defense League of Washington County.

Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Ms. Betty Duncan.
