Barry Harrison Spry of Abingdon, VA, originally from Bluefield, WV passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, surrounded by several of his loved ones in Durham, NC.
He had a very successful career as a Civil Engineer in the coal industry, with many amazing coworkers, colleagues, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Harrison Spry, Jr and Rosa Amelia (Romano) Spry of Bluefield, WV and several other beloved family members.
He’s survived by his wife, best friend, and partner in crime of over 40 years, Reva Wilson Spry, their two sons Patrick Maiden of Bristol, VA, and Nick Maiden, his wife Sandi (Rollo) Maiden, and his beloved granddaughter Alyssa Maiden. He’s also survived by his two brothers, Gary Spry of Bristol, TN and Greg Spry and his longtime partner Laura Chandler of Roanoke, VA.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 17, 2023 at Highlands Fellowship in Abingdon, VA with a service following at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating. A committal service will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are nephews Benjamin Spry, Eric Spry, Jared Spry, Eric Wilson, Emory Bishop, and Reed Rasnake.
Honorary Pallbearers are other special nieces and nephews.
