Ann Koffman Morison

Ann Koffman Morison, 93, died Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Oakmont at Gordon Park in Bristol, Virginia.


Born in Kingsport and a life-time resident, Mrs. Morison was a 1948 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, attended Hollins College (1948 – 1950) in Roanoke, Virginia, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1952, majoring in history.  


She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Morison in 2000, her daughter, Sarah Nelms Morison in 1996, and her parents Frances Nelms Koffman and Charles K. Koffman. 


Surviving are her son, Peter Whitworth Morison and wife Jane DeLoach Morison of Bristol, Virginia; grandchildren, Lena Claire Morison of Winston- Salem, North Carolina and Peter Daniel Morison of Ruther Glen, Virginia ; a brother, Charles K. Koffman, Jr. of Kingsport, Tennessee.


Mrs. Morison served a number of years as chairwoman of the Kingsport Historic Zoning Commission and the Kingsport Library Commission, and as an officer of the Dobyns – Bennett Alumni Association, and as secretary of the Board of Directors of the Dobyns-Bennett Educational Foundation. She had also served on the Sullivan County Human Services Advisory Committee, was a long-time member of the Kingsport Junior League, former president of the Kingsport Book Club, and held memberships in the Wednesday Book Group, Pi Beta Phi National sorority, the Netherland Inn Association, and the Survivors’ Club.


She was a lifelong member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church, Kingsport, TN. 


Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, Virginia with Reverend Ann Aichinger officiating.   Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sarah Nelms Morison Nursing Scholarship Fund, Milligan College, Tennessee, 37682 or to the C.K. Koffman Scholarship Fund of the Dobyns-Bennett Alumni Foundation.
