Alan Kenneth Galliher, 61, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018.
Alan was born on December 18, 1956, in Abingdon, Va., and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1975. He later served 9 years in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in both Italy and Japan as a Communication Specialist. Alan had many hobbies and could be described best as a lifelong dare devil. He loved motorcycles, fishing, reading, playing chess and a great game of Rook. Alan was always an outgoing kind person and loved all animals.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Galliher and one daughter, Lea Nicole Galliher.
Survivors include one son, Sean Galliher and wife, B.J. of Bristol, Va.; one granddaughter, Kayla Galliher; his mother, Molly Hortenstine of Abingdon, Va.; three sisters, Evelyn Nunez of Abingdon, Va., Julia Bragg and husband, Robert of Wise, Va., and Melissa Harless of Alderson, WV; one brother, John Hortenstine and wife, Jamie of Abingdon, Va.; his loving companion, Barbara Craft of Abingdon, Va.; two nieces, Molly Beth Bragg and Katherine Hortenstine; four nephews, Joey Nunez, Derek Davenport, J.W. Hortenstine and Dylan Harless; one aunt, Lydia Brtan and one uncle, George Moretz.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m., on Monday, December 3, 2018, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. Services will follow at 6:30 p.m., Monday evening in the chapel with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating.
