“Tom” Fulmer
August 4, 1951 – February 17, 2026
Tom Fulmer, 74 of Abingdon, Virginia went peacefully to be with the lord on February 17, 2026.
Tom was born August 4, 1951. He was the son of the late Cecil Buren and Mary Ida Fulmer. He grew up in Andover, Virginia graduating from Appalachia High School in 1969. He was of the Methodist faith.
Tom graduated college from Virginia Tech in 1974 with a BS in geology.
During his career, Tom enjoyed working for different oil and gas companies of the northeastern region. He served as a director for the Department of Gas & Oil in Virginia. In previous years, he had been enjoying his retirement.
Those who knew Tom, experienced his humble personality and tender soul. Tom lived a full life enjoying; college football and basketball, history, music, reading, cooking, watching animals, historical, musical and true crime television, and a proud dedication to the Masonic lodge and Shriner's events & dinners throughout the years.
Tom was a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason and a longtime member of Abingdon Masonic lodge #48 , serving as Worshipful Master in 1998. He was also a member of Kazim Shrine temple and past President of the Desert Sands Shrine club.
Survivors include, companion & caretaker, Jennifer Alexander of the home. Sister, Debbie Thomas and husband, J.R. of Nashville, TN. Great niece, Shelby Bostic of Lebanon, VA. Special friend, Janet Williams of Abingdon, VA. His precious fur babies, his cats; Nelson & Tiffany.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Fulmer Cox, brothers, Cecil Buren, Jr, Larry & Bill Fulmer. Niece, Pam Cox Stewart.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. prior to the service. A Masonic funeral service will follow at 2:30 P.M.
