William Arnold Lawson, 85, passed away January 13, 2021 at his residence.
Mr. Lawson was born September 30, 1935 to the late George Arnold and Mary Wright Lawson in Abingdon, VA.
Mr. Lawson served in the United States Army for 12 years through the National Guard. He was an avid outdoors-man who loved fishing as well as spending his time woodworking. He had a true passion and love for listening and playing music.
Including his parents he is preceded in death by one son, Timothy Lee Lawson; three brothers, George Edward Lawson, Henry Arthur Lawson and Bobby Lewis Lawson; one sister, Cora Ellen Johnson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Carol Lee Lawson; three daughters, Robin Elizabeth Kennedy, Donna Ellen Lawson and Michelle Shaw; sister, Mary Ann Hinkle and husband Tom; three grandchildren, Jessica Thompson, Christopher Shaw and Sharon Lonergan and husband Chris; three great grandchildren, Madison Grace Thompson, Johnia Elizabeth Shaw and Caleb Mason Shaw; also many nieces and nephews; and special friend Doug Pendergrass.
A graveside service will be held at 3 PM, Friday, January 15, 2021 at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Rev. Leonard Tenney officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:45 PM.
In accordance with COVID-19 regulations, all those attending services are asked to wear face coverings and follow social distancing guidelines.
