Sherry Sutherland Smith of Abingdon, VA, 78, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Sherry was born in Dickenson County, VA. to the late Paul Sutherland and Lucille Long Sutherland. She was a 1961 graduate of Ervington High School in Nora, VA.
Sherry was a member of Abingdon Bible Church and served her community as a Town of Abingdon employee for 23 years before retiring in 2013. Sherry never met a stranger and loved spending time with family, cousins, and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy C. Smith; sons, Craig Smith and wife Zuriel Zeron-Smith of Huntersville, NC, and Paul Smith and wife Heather Smith of Bethlehem, PA.; grandchildren, Daniel Smith and Eva Smith; sister, Paula Sutherland and husband R.L. Sutherland of Alvarado, VA.; brother, Jessee Sutherland of Alvarado, VA.; brother, Michael Sutherland and wife Gina Sutherland of St. Paul, VA.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Paul Bufford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Abingdon Bible Church, P.O. Box 843, Abingdon, VA. 24212 in Sherry’s name.
