Sallie Helton Rust, age 89, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at Grace Healthcare Center.
She was born May 20, 1929, in Washington County, Va., to the late Harvey and Mary Helton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Lee Rust; two sisters and two brothers.
Sallie was a lifelong farmer and homemaker. She loved collecting dolls and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Rust of Damascus, Va. and Larry Rust and wife, Judy of Abingdon, Va.; one grandson, James Rust and wife, Angie of Meadowview, Va.; two great grandchildren, Andy Rust and Brittany Alexander; one great grandson, Brandon Alexander; one sister, Edith Fields of Abingdon, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018, in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Junior Gobble officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery by 2:45 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Pendergrass, Bob and Jane Hill and Sallie’s roommate at Grace Healthcare, Belinda.
