Lorene Hawthorne Shaw, 84, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Saturday, February 09, 2019, at her home.
She was born November 8, 1934, in Washington County, Va., to the late William Roy “Happy” Hawthorne and Ola Logene Tucker Hawthorne. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by an infant child; brothers, Billy and Roy Hawthorne; sisters, Florence Conley, Mildred Weaver, Betty Henegar and Lucille Preston; and her former husband, Paul Shaw.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Curtis Shaw and wife, Michelle of Abingdon; daughters, Trina Widener and husband, Curtis of Abingdon and Regina Buchanan of Abingdon; sisters, Lois Cuneo of Chester, Va., and Ellen Rademacher of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Christopher Shaw and wife, Emily, Jessica Thompson, Greg Widener, Pricilla Cline and husband, Hank, Tamara Reynolds and husband, Daniel, Christina Rosenbaum and husband, Ricky, Kelley Robinette and husband, David; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks is expressed to Dr. William Mark Handy, Jennifer Widener and staff, her granddaughter, Pricilla Cline, her very understanding son-in-law, Curtis Widener and her daughter, Regina Buchanan.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2019, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m., in the chapel with Pastor Junior Gobble officiating. Committal services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m.
Her grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
