John Goddard Foster, age 85, passed away on July 31, 2020, at Grace Healthcare in Abingdon, Va.
He was born February 2, 1935, in Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Foster; grandsons, Jamie Marcum and Colby Foster; great-grandson, Abel Foster.
Survived by children, Katherine Speak of Pennington Gap, VA; Carole Martin of Jonesville, VA; John Joel Foster of Jonesville, VA; Charlotte Meurin and Husband Christopher of Victoria, TX; grandchildren, Kenny Denson of Sewell, NJ; David Denson of Key West, FL; Patricia Mitchell and husband, Rick of Rose Hill, VA; Kristen and Kaylena Foster of Jonesville, VA; great-grandchildren, Jordon Diffenderfer; Olivia Denson and Cleo Mitchell.
John was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a faithful servant. He loved baseball and taking his family out to the ballfield. John was also a collector of many things. He loved to travel and visit friends all across the country. The short cut home as he called it was his favorite! The rest of us called it the long way home. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.
Per John’s wishes, no services will be held.
