Emma "Sue" Gill

Emma “Sue” Gill, 76, of Smith Creek community, passed away on Saturday February 13, 2021 at her residence.


Sue was born on June 15, 1944 in Scott County, VA to the late Nelson Frazier and Alta Johnson Frazier.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth J. Gill; three sisters, Laura Frazier, Betty Fortner, and Louise Cox; one brother, Joe Frazier.


Sue was the best mother to her three daughters, Karen Mumpower and husband Larry of Bristol, VA., Kathy Fleenor and husband Mark of Abingdon, VA., and Leslie Carrier and husband Todd of Blountville, TN. She was most proud of her five grandchildren, Jason Mumpower, Kimberly Mumpower (fiancé Shawn Gobble), Sara Fleenor, Mason Carrier, and Tyler Carrier. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Ralph Frazier, Ray Frazier and wife Hattie, Tommy Frazier and wife Bonnie, Roger Frazier and wife Thelma, Beck Statzer and husband Reece, Treva Barker and husband Howard, and Dicie Dean.


The family wishes to express a special thanks to Stephanie Barton and to all the friends at the Abingdon Cancer Center who took such wonderful care of our momma during her illness. We love you all.


A Chapel Service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers and Rev. P.T. Glover officiating. Internment will be held privately.


Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Mumpower, Mark Fleenor, Todd Carrier, Woodrow “Rooster” Brewer, and Jason Mumpower. Honorary pallbearers will be Sue’s nephews, Shawn Gobble, Larry Webb, and Willie Marshall.


In accordance with COVID-19 regulations, all those attending services are asked to wear face coverings and follow social distancing guidelines.

Frost Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Abingdon, Va., is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Gill.
