Ella Marie Kestner Meade, 68, passed away on October 22, 2020 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA.
She was the daughter of Marvin and Hazel Kestner.
In addition to her parents,, she is preceded in death by her son, Barry Meade; brother and sister-in-law, Lee Roy and Brenda Kestner; brother J.D. Kestner; and best friend, Viola Reynolds.
She is survived by her daughter, Carlotta Barton and companion, Larry Thomas of Abingdon; two grandsons, Derek Phillips of Abingdon and Jordan Phillips of St. Paul; one great-granddaughter, Kenley Phillips of St. Paul; one brother, Jerry Kestner and wife Bonnie of Lebanon; sister-in-law, Barbara Kestner of Abingdon; one uncle, Maynard Reynolds of Abingdon; two nephews, Chris and Wayne Kestner of Abingdon; one niece, Hope Stevens of Lebanon; four great-nephews and two nieces; and one great niece; several cousins; special friends, Lisa and Glenda Carico.
She loved to sing gospel music, cook, and spend time talking with her family. During her illness, she liked to sing gospel hymns to the medical staff and remind each of them that Jesus Loved Them All. Thanks to Dr. Rose Suaava, Dr. Christine Taylor-Hall, Dr. Jim Brasfield, and Dr. Judd Salamat. A special thanks to Jeanne Smith and the PCU staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital. The love and support shown to her and the family was greatly appreciated. Thanks to the members of The Apostolics of Abingdon, Greendale Chapel, and The House of The Lord for all the prayers during the last 6 months.
Pallbearers will be Derek Phillips, Jordan Phillips, Larry Thomas, Chris Kestner, Wayne Kestner, and Lynn Reynolds. Honorary Pallbearer will be Cody Kestner.
