Douglas Wayne ReMine, age 86, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019, at his home.
He was born September 15, 1932, in Washington County, Va., to the late John C. ReMine and Mattie DeBusk ReMine. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Timothy ReMine and two brothers, Lewis ReMine and James ReMine.
Wayne retired from Columbus-McKinnon Corp. after working 40 years as a maintenance electrician. He was lifelong farmer and took great pride in his work especially his cattle. As a child he attended Bethel Presbyterian Church along with his family where he became a member at an early age. In later years he attended Washington Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Margaret Hagy ReMine; three children, Martha ReMine McCallep and husband, Leonard Oliver McCallep of Boyne City, Mich., Robert Wayne ReMine of Abingdon and Sharon ReMine Edwards and husband, Michael David Edwards of Waynesboro, NC; five grandchildren, Aaron Harrison and wife, Carley, Amy Wood, Doug Edwards, Luke Edwards and wife, Dorian and Katie Rose Edwards; four great grandchildren; one niece, Matanette Greever and husband, Charles “Chick” Greever; two nephews, John ReMine and Jeffery ReMine; and several other extended family members.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all the family and friends for the support that has been shown during this time.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2019, at Bethel Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., at the church with Rev. Joe Green officiating. Music will be provided by Beth Green. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Harrison, Doug Edwards, Luke Edwards, Leonard McCallep, Dave Edwards and Jim Hagy. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Hagy, Chick Greever, Jim Clark, Charlie Clark, Andy Trent and Alfred Wampler.
