Curtis Montague Sword



Abingdon, VA

Curtis Montague Sword, 89, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2021 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN.

Mr. Sword was born December 13, 1931 to the late Mont Sword and Nina Anderson Sword Duff in Russell County, VA.

He spent over 31 years working for the Untied States Postal Service and loved auctioneering. He spent many years as a little league baseball and midget league football referee. He was faithful member of the Abingdon Church of Christ.

Including his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Loraine Morris Sword; his second wife, Margaret Perkins Sword; one son, Kevin Russell Sword; one brother, Earnest Sword.

Survivors include two children, Brian Sword and Darryl Sword; one stepdaughter, Tina Rogers and husband Jack; one stepson Tony Perkins and wife Jennifer; one sister, Doris Riley; one granddaughter, Caroline Sword Ratliff; three great grandchildren, Annabelle, Maverick, and Zoey Cannon; seven step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM Monday, July 19, 2021 at Abingdon Church of Christ with a service to follow at 7 PM with Minister Bill Haywood, Minister Eddie Craft and Minister Tim Hall officiating. A committal service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 PM.
