Charles Edward Sullins, Sr.

Charles Edward Sullins, Sr., 85, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 15, 1933, in Washington County, Va., to the late Fred Sullins and Mattie Thelma Blevins Sullins. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Whitehurst.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from the Washington County Service Authority in 1998 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Free Pentecostal Assembly Church in Abingdon. Charles was an avid outdoorsman he especially enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nona Sullins; three daughters, Janice Marie Brown of Abingdon, Barbara Brown of Abingdon, and Becky Justice and husband, Ron of Bristol, Va.; one son, Chuck Sullins and wife Victoria of Chilhowie; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; five brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Frost Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Stanley officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia Army National Guard.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Brown, D.J. Hughes, Shane Lester, George Thomas, Johnny Pace and Dallas Hughes.
