Carol McLeod Hearl, 79, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at her home.
She was born January 15, 1940, to the late Radford W. McLeod and Martha Chamberlin McLeod. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Amy Lynn McNeill; and one brother, Jerry W. McLeod.
Carol was an avid reader, gardener and enjoyed cooking. She loved all kinds of crafts, spending time at the beach and her church. Carol was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Lake Perry Wesley Circle.
Survivors include her husband, Ned Hearl; two children, Valerie M. Walters (Danny) of Raeford, NC and Brad McNeill (Donna) of Robbins, NC; three step children, Brett Hearl (Paula) of Wenatchee, WA, Leslie Hearl of Oak Ridge, NC and Cathy Bowling (John) of Abingdon, Va.; five grandchildren, Alyssa Miller (David), Emily Kafka (Tom), Ben Stanley (Tiffany), Kaleb Bowling and Seth Bowling; eight great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Goldston and Judy McLeod.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 2 p.m., in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
