Carey Gale Fields, 89, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of the late Stanley and Vola Fields. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He was retired from Westinghouse as a forklift operator.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruby McReynolds Fields; daughter, Angela Fields; son, Mike Fields; brother, Nile Fields; sisters, Shelby Riley and Linda Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Friends may visit anytime at the residence.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m., on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
