Obituary

Willie Mae Akers, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born on May 1, 1938, in North Holston, Virginia, “Mae” was the beloved daughter of the late Ed Beavers and Sadie Blevins Beavers. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was caring for her family. Her home was always filled with love, and she found happiness in cooking for those she loved. She also loved flowers, enjoyed reading her Bible, and lived a life grounded in faith. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Andy Akers Jr.; her sons, Steve Lane, Burgess Layne, and Michael Lane; and her granddaughter, Kimberly Barrick. 

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lisa Street (Keith), Sandra Lane, and Judy Gray (the late John); her sons, Johnny Lane (Pat), Lee Lane (Angie), and Darren Akers (Missy); her beloved fur baby, Eddie; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home with Pastor Gorden Smith officiating. Committal service will follow going in procession to Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Darren Lee Akers(grandson), Ryan Kaszuba (grandson-in-law), Kiptyn Kaszuba (great-grandson), Wyatt Akers (great-grandson), and Bur-Bur Layne (grandson).
