Virginia Crenshaw Moore, age 97 of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away on August 28, 2026, at Commonwealth Senior Living.

Virginia was the daughter of the late Beattie and Mary Crenshaw. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Moore, sister Margaret Crenshaw, and brothers Charlie, Jimmy, Fred and Frank Crenshaw as well as several nephews.

She is survived by her daughter Becky Arnold-Barr, son-in-law Ron Barr, grandson Wade Arnold, sister Dorothy McNew, several nieces and nephews, and three great granddaughters.

Virginia was a member of the Abingdon Baptist Church. She was a 1946 graduate of Meadowview High School and a 1949 graduate of the Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she became a registered nurse. She was employed over the years by Johnston Memorial as a private duty nurse, a pharmacy nurse, and a cardiac nurse.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Jillian Baker and team from MSA Home Health & Hospice for their kindness and care during the last several months and to the staff at Commonwealth Senior Living for all their assistance during the last 15 years. Many special friendships were made during that time.

Graveside services will be held at Knollkreg Cemetery in Abingdon on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Bill Bryan officiating.  Expressions of condolence may be made in any form desired by friends.
