Timothy Wayne Timberlake, 76, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at Bristol Reginal Medical Center.

A lifetime member of the Virginia State Police as a helicopter pilot, he was instrumental in bringing med-flight to the Abingdon area. Wayne devoted countless hours teaching students to fly and gave multiple licenses, often going beyond what was asked of him. His dedication included piloting private planes and helicopters and serving offices within the retired Virginia State Police Association. Wayne served in the United State Airforce where he received training as an aircraft mechanic. He is a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, Virginia and has an Associate of Science degree from Virginia Highlands Community College.Wayne loved his home, and enjoyed the lake and visiting with neighbors and friends. He loved Jeopardy and NASCAR. He was innovative in designing and adding unique additions to his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Junious and Pauline Timberlake.

He is survived by his son, Timothy Wayne Timberlake, Jr and wife Amy; grandson, Wayne, and granddaughter Taylor; he is also survived by his longtime companion, Rebecca Neal; and has one sister, Jeannie Clark and her husband Les.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. in Youngsville, North Carolina at the Youngsville Town Cemetery, 552 South College Street, Youngsville, NC, 27576. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:45 A.M.
