Tanner Jackson Collins, 86, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024.

He was born on September 10, 1937 to the late Willie Jackson and Virginia Hall in Russell County, Virginia. Tanner always loved being outdoors and especially when he was hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Tanner is preceded in death by his first wife, Clariece Kennedy Collins; grandson, Jason Gilmer; brother, Alvin Collins; sister, Shirley Stevens; and stepson, Larry Suite.

Tanner is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Hall Collins; two daughters, Teresa "Suzie" Gilmer (Darryl) and Terry Mullins; three stepdaughters, Kathy Webb (Thomas), Melinda Cantrell, and Karen Smith; special granddaughters Tosha Fleenor (Anthony) and Tiffany McCracken (Blake); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Collins; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM in the Forst Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Townes officiating. Committal service will be on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Temple Hill Mausoleum at 11:00 AM. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 AM.
