Steven Dale Proffitt, 61, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023. He was born on August 30, 1961 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Jack and Marie Proffitt.

Steve was a loving and devoted husband and son. He was a graduate of Graham High School in Bluefield, Virginia in 1979.

After 42 years of service, he retired from Norfolk Southern Railway. Left to cherish the memories of their 37 years of marriage is his loving wife, Nancy Proffitt.

Including his parents, he is preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law Jess and Alpha Coleman; brothers-in-law, Ron and Rick Coleman; and sister-in-law, Joyce Roman.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, Steve is survived by his sister-in-law, Jacqui Fryhofer and husband Don of Houston, Texas; Mark Roman of Orlando, Florida; aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews, and best friend, Chuck Richardson; many other dear friends he made along the way also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
