Stella Ruth Pennington, age 84, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday May 15, 2026 due to complications from Dementia/Alzheimer's disease.

She was born in Quinnimont, West Virginia on July 26, 1941 to the late Grace Morgan and Dorling C. Chitwood. She grew up in Chicago Illinois and married and moved to Virginia in the late 1960s.

She retired from Westinghouse Corporation in 1995. Stella was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Pennington; son, Jerry Dee Pennington; son-in-law, Kenny Rouse; sister, Betty Rosencrans; brother, Cecil Chitwood; and best friend, Marie Sexton.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and caregiver Vickie Crenshaw and husband Shayne, daughter, Connie Reynolds; grandsons, Derek, Dustin, and Matthew Rouse; great granddaughter Aubrey Rouse, who nicknamed Stella "Tiny Toes"; sister Carol Tucker and husband Thomas (Conroe Texas); also, sister in law Jewel Pennington (Albin) and Cleta Blevins (Bobby); as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank special caregivers, Lynda Thomas, Sharon Doss, and Dana Ward as well as the staff at Caris Hospice, especially Gypsy and Shirley.

Receiving of friends will be at Azen Missionary Baptist Church in Konnarock on May 19th at 12:00pm and grave side service at 1:00pm.

Officiating will be Shayne Crenshaw, Dustin Rouse, and Kenny Bolling.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Azen Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 21419 Azen Road Damascus, Virginia 24236.
