Russell D. Mutter, 75, of Abingdon, Virginia and formerly of Buchanan County, passed away March 28, 2023, at Ballad Hospice House following a short illness.

He was born July 5, 1947, in Page, Virginia to the late Richard and Shirley Mutter. He was a 1966 graduate of Garden High School (Go Dragons!) where he was star quarterback. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably for four years. He owned and operated Oakwood Garden Center in Oakwood, Virginia alongside his loving wife of 20 years, Donna.

In addition to his mother and father, Russell was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Wade Mutter.

Russell is survived by his wife, Donna Cole Mutter of Abingdon, Virginia; one stepson, Reevis Brandon Harris of Honaker; one sister, Janet Weatherford Baker and husband Linnie of Lake Anna, Virginia.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
