Rhonda
Davenport
Jul 10, 1963 — Jun 26, 2026
Rhonda Davenport of Bristol, Virginia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter, passed away on June 26, 2026, at the age of 62.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Darrell Davenport; her children, Jared Cervantes of Bristol, Virginia, and his wife Hannah, and Chelsea Stamper of San Antonio, Texas, and her husband Caleb; her step-son, Ethan Davenport and his wife Tonya; her loving mother, Wanda Bailey; and her sisters Barbara, Karen, and Debbie, with whom she shared a close and meaningful bond throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Neal Bailey. Rhonda was a deeply cherished grandmother to five grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Born on July 10, 1963, Rhonda carried a strong sense of compassion and dedication throughout her life. She dedicated many years of her professional life to the medical field as a transcriptionist, where her attention to detail and commitment to helping others made a lasting impact. She also worked in human resources, bringing compassion and understanding to those she served. Above all, she devoted herself to raising her children and supporting her family with unwavering care.
For more than a decade, Rhonda fought a courageous battle with cancer. She faced each challenge with remarkable strength and grace, rarely complaining and never losing her determination. Throughout her journey, she was supported every step of the way by her devoted husband, Darrell, whose love and care remained constant.
Outside of her work and family life, Rhonda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing the piano and had once dreamed of becoming a singer, a passion that reflected her creative and expressive spirit. Having lived in many different places across the country, she embraced the opportunity to explore and experience new surroundings. She also cherished quiet moments, especially relaxing on the porch with a glass of wine and taking time to unwind and enjoy the world around her.
She believed deeply in humility and worked to instill that value in her children, leading by example through her kindness, patience, and steady presence. Though she may never have fully realized the depth of her impact, Rhonda touched countless lives with her quiet strength, compassion, and love.
Rhonda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to her family, and the love she gave so freely. Her influence lives on in the lives of those who knew her, and her memory will be treasured always.
A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on July 2, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Church in Abingdon, Virginia.
