Phyllis Gail Whited Fritz, 88, went to be with the lord on May 06, 2026 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon VA.

She was born June 27, 1937 to the late Walter Glenn Whited and Polly Roach Whited in Appalachia, VA. Gail loved her grandson, Matt, and her great grandbabies. She loved turtles, going to Carolina Beach with family, fishing, and puzzles. Gail was known for her fried pies, mac-n-cheese, and chicken and dumplings. She enjoyed her pet squirrels and feeding her K-9 best friend, Fiddle. Above all she loved spending time with her family and going to Church where she was a member at Roberts Chapel Baptist Church.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by, her husband Carl Fritz, daughter, Karen Sue Smith; brothers, Charles Douglas Whited, Lawerence Kay Whited, William Jack Whited, Walter Glenn, Whited, Jr., Harold Recier Whited.

Survivors include her special grandson, Matt Smith and wife Amanda, one sister, Katherine “Sis’ Hall, niece she thought of as her daughter, Connie Reed; great grandchildren, Ensley Smith, Greyson Smith, Brooks Smith; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M until 12:00 P.M. on May 11, 2026 at Frost Funeral Home. With a service to follow at 12:00 P.M. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Junior Gobble and Pastor Jerry Fritz officiating. A committal service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
