Abingdon, VA.

Ned Roosevelt Hearl, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away on February 9, 2022 at 2:22 A.M. due to end stage kidney failure.

He was born at home in Hemphill, West Virginia on May 31, 1934 to Rosa and John Hearl.

After high school he worked in the coal mines before joining the Marines. With the blessing of the GI Bill, he was able to graduate from West Virginia University and create a fulfilling life. He raised 3 children with his first wife, Jane, and married a second time, returning to the family farm in retirement as a gentleman farmer with Carol. He tried his hand at raising garlic, molasses and wonderful vegetable gardens. He canned his own Bloody Mary mix that made one's mouth water.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Carol.

He is survived by children, Brett, Leslie and Cathy; sister, Evelyn.

A small family service will be held as the flowers bloom in honor of his love for gardening.
