Obituary

Naomi Kestner Barrett, age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Naomi was born on June 19, 1948, to the late William McKinley Kestner and Cathaleen Walker Reedy Kestner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Clayton Barrett; siblings, Genevieve Rogers, Whitson Kestner, Titus Kestner, Bobby Kestner, and Mike Kestner; and son-in-law, Hootie Sullivan.

Naomi devoted her life to caring for others. She worked as a nurse for many years, providing compassionate care to countless patients and families throughout her career. She was also deeply committed to her community and the youth of the area, serving as a Cub Scout leader with Carvosso Cub Scouts Pack 1 for more than 30 years. Through her dedication, guidance, and service, she touched the lives of generations of Scouts and their families.

She is survived by her children, Larry Clayton Barrett II and wife, Tracie; Anna Cathaleen Sullivan; William Anthony Barrett and wife, Jill; Amy Nicole Barrett; and Christopher Adam Barrett. Naomi also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who were a source of great joy in her life. She is also survived by her brothers, John Kestner and Samuel Kestner and wife, Kathy; sisters, Jeanette Jessee and Vonda Price; and her longtime friends, Harold and the late Ruby Fields, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Carvosso United Methodist Church in Abingdon, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Dave Serven and Pastor Bill Breeding officiating.

A committal service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Brent Barrett, Tyler Barrett, Chaz Smith, Damon Childress, Trey Barrett, Wink Thorpe, Miles Smith, and Derek Kestner.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Kestner, Sam Kestner, Eric Smith, Will Smith, and the Men of Carvosso Church.

Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Servies is honored to serve the family of Ms. Naomi Kestner Barrett.
