Michael James Porter, 74, of Meadowview, VA went to be with our Lord on June 11th at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born April 28, 1948 in Troy, OH. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war where he served with the 199th Infantry Brigade. He was a faithful member of Galilean Baptist Church until his health no longer allowed him to attend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Porter and Virginia Porter and his oldest sister Martha Major.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda Holley Porter, his sons Barry Porter-Kristy Stevens Porter of Pikeville, KY, Brian Porter-Jimmy Salyers of Abingdon, VA. Grandkids-Kiera Porter, Toby Porter, Tessa Porter and Finn Porter. Also, his surviving siblings-Mary Blevins (his twin sister) and her husband Paul, Bob Porter and his wife Hazel and Maryanne Cassell. He also had a host of nieces and nephews, as well as friends who loved him dearly who are also mourning this great loss.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, VA with a memorial service following the visitation at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor John Surber officiating.
