Obituary

Matthew “Matt” Anthony Mitchell

Born on March 3, 1989, passed away July 20, 2026 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Matt was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle and a friend to many. Matt was full of life and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by all.

Matt had a strong passion for skateboarding and at one time made the front page of the newspaper. Matt also was a great Auto Body painter and enjoyed seeing the final product.

Matt could always put you in a good mood, teach you something, preach about God, he would give you the shirt off his back any day. You could be having the worst day and as soon as he gets in your presence your mood would lighten up every time.

He loved motorcycles, it always gave him that spark.

Matt could be at deep bottom in life and still come back stronger. He would make sure someone had a roof over their head even when he didn’t. His death will have a big impact on his family forever.

Matt’s son was his number one when it came to anything. If there was ever talk about something he was all ears and yes, if you needed something from him. Being with his son, spending time, going fishing, shooting guns, going to auctions, riding around with cattle, it would always be the most random, special things he done in life. Matt always wanted high-end things and didn’t even have time to get his dream car or motorcycle.

Matt and his son had so many plans in life. Matt would use the last penny he had on his son. He always wanted his son to have all the spotlight.

Matt is survived by his two children, Malakai Mitchell and Elijah Mitchell; his father, Paul Mitchell, Sr.; his mother, Linda Mitchell; two brothers, Mike & Tosha Mitchell and family, Isaiah Mitchell and his family; special niece, Maddie Mitchell and family; and his nephew, Tyler Mitchell and his family. Matt also leaves behind his beloved dog, “Scooter.”

RIP King Matt Mitchell
