Mary Lillian Nunley Sherfey, 85, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Deer Meadows in Abingdon, Virginia.

She was born November 14, 1938, to the late James Richard and Mary Ruth Wagner Nunley.   Mary was a vibrant, hard-working lady until her health declined.  She enjoyed Burger King on Wednesdays with her neighbors and friends, traveling, and listening to gospel music.  She had a green thumb like no other and especially loved roses.  Mary lived a simple life and adored her family, friends, and furry babies.    She was a member of Valley View Baptist until her family moved away, and most recently, she attended Pleasant View United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Sherfey; great-grandchild, Katrina; two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Blackwell, Mary Jane Moore-Miller, and Brenda Boardwine; special grandchildren, Cambell Moore (Kayla) and their daughter, Violet, Chad, Bobby, Lisa, Gene, and Melissa; two sisters, Linda Sue Maxwell and Barbara Harrington; special friends, Lucille, Patsy, and Minnie Sue.   Mary is also survived by several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Barbara Farmer and Reverend Dale Gilbert officiating.  Interment will follow in Valley View Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
