Linda Widener Gillespie, 70, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, North Carolina.
Linda was born November 19, 1953, in Glade Spring, Virginia to the late Otis and Betty Ratliff Widener. Linda moved to North Carolina when she was 16 and lived there the remainder of her life. Linda loved to crochet and complete word search puzzles. When asked about her favorite vacation destination, Daytona Beach was always at the top of the list. Linda will be remembered for her devotion to her family and outgoing spirit that never met a stranger. Above all, Linda was a faithful Christian of the Baptist faith.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Lisa Stegall and husband John; three grandchildren, whom she adored, Zach, Cason, and Kendall Stegall; two sisters, Janice Dayton and Beth Cox; brother, Randy Widener. Linda is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends at the Union House in Monroe, North Carolina.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus with the Reverend Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 P.M.
Zach Stegall, Randy Widener, Todd Cox, Terry Bryant, Darrell Dyson, and John Stegall will serve as pallbearers.
