Larry Clayton Barrett, 78, passed away on August 31, 2024, at his residence in Abingdon, Virginia.

Mr. Barrett was born in Abingdon, Va on July 31, 1946, to the late Clarence Roscoe Barrett and Anna Lena Gertrude Harless.

Larry was proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Larry spent many years as the parts manager at Freedom Ford.  A devoted family man, Larry adored his children and grandchildren.   Above all, Larry loved his Lord and traveled the country spreading the gospel through song.   He was a faithful member of Carvasso United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his siblings, Fannie Stevens, Patsy Powers, Carolyn Davis, Mary Quinn, Josie Parker, Linda Fields, Julie Roark, Carlene Barrett, Roger Barrett, Johnny Barrett, Mike Barrett, and Carl Barrett; son, Michael Anthony Kestner; son-in-law, Billy "Hootie" Sullivan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Naomi Kestner Barrett; children, Larry Clayton (Tracie) Barrett II, Anna Cathaleen Sullivan, William Anthony (Jill) Barrett, Samuel (Kathy) Kestner Wayne "Wink" (Trish) Thorpe, Amy Nicole Childress, Christopher Adam Barrett, Neveah Pollino, Keegan Calloway, and Vonda Price; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, David Barrett, Barbara Armstrong, and Gerald Barrett; brother-in-law, Johnny Kestner; sister-in-law, Jeanette Jessee. Larry is also survived by special lifelong friends, Harold and Ruby Fields and many nieces, nephews, and his church family.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. at Carvosso United Methodist Church in Abingdon, Virginia.   A funeral service will follow at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor Bill Breeding and Pastor Leonard Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens where full military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and the Marion VFW Post 4667.

Larry Barrett II, Tony Barrett, Brent Barrett, Trey Barrett, Tyler Barrett, Samuel Kestner, Wink Thorpe, and David Brown will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Carvosso United Methodist Church, 19429 Rustic Lane, Abingdon, Virginia, 24210.
