Kathy Sue Barrett, 62, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at her home.

She was born in Johnson City, Tenn., to the late Hercel Garland and Maude Watson Garland. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Barrett; sister, Winnie Harris and brother, Ira Garland.

Kathy was a member of the Washington County, Va., Moose Lodge. She enjoyed dancing and listening to music. Kathy deeply loved her family and will be missed by many.

Survivors include her children, Kimberly Barrett, Carmela Childress and husband, Gary, and Travis Barrett and fiancé, Candy McIntyre; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Janie Dewilde; brothers, Larkin Garland and wife, Gay, Harley Garland and Hercel Garland, Jr.; special niece and nephew, Darlene Barrett and Tommy Garland; several other nieces, nephews and a special cousin, Kim Harr.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2022, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., in the chapel with Pastor Gordon Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larkin, Harley and Hercel Garland, Jr., Tommy Garland, Christopher Glovier and Michael McElraft. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Cress, Cody Waller, Tommy Miller and Brandon Able.
