Joseph Lee Mitchell, Jr., passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, peacefully at his residence.

Mr. Mitchell was born August 19, 1958, in Abingdon, VA to the late Joseph Mitchell Sr., and Katherine Coleman Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell loved the outdoors; he was known to have a green thumb and that showed in his beautiful garden he put out every year.

Including his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Lois Cox.

Survivors include his two sons, Brian Mitchell and Travis Mitchell; and daughter, Kimberly Prater; special niece, Britta Larimer; his beloved dog Shadow, and several other nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Mitchell will be held privately.
