Joseph Franklin Childress, age 87, passed away on December 5, 2023 at his residence in Bristol, VA.

Joseph was born on May 12, 1936 to the late John Edgar and Bessie Trivett Childress.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Trilla M.

Childress.

Joseph was known for being a hard worker and loved trout fishing. He was a loving father and family man who will be missed beyond measure.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, William Childress and David (Kelly) Childress; grandson, Johnny (Gretchen) Childress; four great grandchildren, Tyler Childress, Hunter Hagen, Taylor Hagen, and Jordan Bell; two sisters, Maxine Ritchie of Fairfax, Virginia, and Patsy Ritchie of Abingdon, Virginia; and one brother, Johnny Childress of Haymarket, Virginia; also, several nieces and nephews.

The family intends to hold a private service for both Joseph and Trilla at a later date.
