Jimmy Joe
Owens
November 16, 1960 – June 5, 2026
Jimmy "Joe" Owens, 65, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 5, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with kidney failure and severe seizures related to diabetes.
Joe was born to Larkin Emmanuel Owens, Sr. and Martha Lee Owens, both of whom spent most of their lives in Washington County, Virginia. His mother preceded him in death. Joe was the youngest of a large and close-knit family of five sisters and four brothers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Arnold, Peggy Ault, Hazel Poole, Ellen Hines, and Mary Wine; and his brothers, Eddy Owens, Larkin Emmanuel Owens, Jr., and Marvin Owens.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Terri Lynn Owens; his daughters, Jami and Carissa; his beloved grandchildren, Jaxson, Shelby, Kolton, and Maggie; his last surviving sibling, his brother, Roger Owens, who loved him dearly; and several cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Joe was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Terri Lynn Owens. The two shared 45 wonderful years of marriage and were rarely seen apart. Their love and dedication to one another were evident to all who knew them.
A hardworking family man, Joe always made sure his wife and children were cared for and provided for. Throughout his life, he worked for the Washington County School System, served as a crew leader for the Weatherization Program at People Incorporated, and later worked in security for Ken-Metal.
Joe shared his passion for restoring classic cars with his wife and two daughters. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, who brought out his playful and silly side. His laughter, stories, and sense of humor will be treasured by those who knew and loved him.
Jimmy "Joe" Owens meant the world to his family. Though his family was large, they remained very close, and Joe held a special place in his heart for his many nieces, nephews, and cousins with whom he shared a lifetime of memories.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Joe's niece, Mary Lee Canter, for her love, support, and care during their time of need. They would also like to thank the ICU staff at Holston Valley Medical Center and Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, Tennessee, for the compassionate care they provided.
Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Mr. Jimmy “Joe” Owens.
