Jessica Keegan Widener, 39, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

She was born September 20, 1984, to Danny Gordon and Jean Draeger Widener. Jessica loved music, crafting with epoxy, and painting. Her love of Jack Black bordered upon obsession, and she was proud of it. Jessica had a special place in her heart for animals and considered her pets Kilo and Maggie her children. An avid reader with a particular interest in various religions, she had just purchased and read a copy of the Apocrypha. Jessica also served in the Army. She never met a stranger and had a sweet spirit that touched everyone she ever met.

She is preceded in death by her grandson, Dawson Widener; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Shirley Widener; maternal grandfather, Sid Julson; special uncle, Thomas Koontz, special aunt, Judy Marie Widener; niece, Carly Widener.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three children, Daniel Widener, Alexander Worley, and Caroline Widener; sister, Allie Widener; special aunt, Suzan Widener; two nieces, Luna and Edna Mae Widener; special friends, Sarah Hamilton, Faith Smith, and Jarrick Bell.  Jessica is also survived by her extended family and many, many friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park.

Jeffrey Eldreth, Cody Browder, Rick Widener, Chris Widener, Kevin Fields, and Luke Lethcoe will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County, Virginia Animal Shelter, 27252 Porter Lane, Abingdon, Virginia, 24211 or to any organization that promotes animal welfare.
