ABINGDON, VIRGINIA

Janie Scott Hagy of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was born in Washington County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Hulen Scott and Willie Clyde Garrett Scott. She lived her entire life in Washington County where she and her devoted husband, Fred, farmed together for 37 years, many of those in the dairy business. She was a loving , warm, friendly, Christian lady who loved spending time with her husband, watching her granddaughters and great granddaughter grow up. She loved traveling with her daughter and sister and watching the wildlife out her bedroom window.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Fred Hagy; her daughter, Linda Sue Hagy Rhymer; two brothers, Kenneth Scott and Tommy Scott; and two sisters, Patsy Reeves and Peggy Helton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sandra Bell and husband Jim of Kingsport, TN, with whom she made her home ; son-in-law, Randy Rhymer; granddaughters, Yvonne Lawrence and husband Nick of Knoxville, TN, and Abby Ford and Sam Ford of Kingsport, TN; great-granddaughter, Nola Sue Lawrence of Knoxville, TN; two sisters, Joy Stout of Banner Elk, NC, and Jettye Minton of Kingsland, GA; and special nephews, Jimmy Stout of Banner Elk, NC, and Tommy Hagy of Abingdon, VA.

Graveside services will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers and Rev. Dr. Richard Fifield officiating. All those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Ballad Health Hospice, 2202 N. John B. Dennis Hwy, St 110, Kingsport, TN 37660.
