Janie Carol Garland Dewilde, 59, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2026.

Janie was born on April 4, 1967, in Abingdon, Virginia, to the late Hercel Garland and Maude Watson Garland.

Janie was a loving wife, mother, and devoted family member who cherished the time she spent with those she loved. She was a faithful member of Shady Grove Pentecostal Church, where she was actively involved in the Ladies Auxiliary. Janie enjoyed participating in church activities and especially looked forward to making candy eggs at Easter. Her love for the Lord and dedication to her church were an important part of her life. Although she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now in Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dewilde; one brother, Bosco Garland; and her sisters, Winnie Harris and Kathy Barrett.

She is survived by her loving son, Joshua Dewilde; three brothers, Larkin Garland (Gay), Harley Garland, and Junior Garland; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff of Deer Meadows Rehabilitation and Nursing for the love, care, support, and prayers shown to Janie and her family.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, November 09, 2026 at Frost Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Adam Wise officiating. A committal service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, VA. with Pastor Stephen Umbarger officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 P.M.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Shady Grove Pentecostal Church Ladies Auxiliary at 350 Shady Street, Abingdon, VA 24210 or to the Mechanicsburg Cemetery Fund, c/o Lenora Chewning, 9011 East Blue Grass Trail, Bland, Virginia 24315.
