Helen Marie Barton O’Quinn, 86, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026.

Helen was born on August 23, 1939, to the late Jess and Bertha Barton. She was a devoted woman of the Baptist faith who found joy in life’s simple blessings. Helen loved cooking for those she cared about, watching Duke basketball, and spending time gardening. Above all else, she cherished her family and treasured every moment spent with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl O’Quinn; one son, Randall Earl O’Quinn; one daughter, Wanda Sue O’Quinn; six brothers, Ray Barton, Curt Barton, Lacy Barton, Avery Barton, Jerry Barton, and Leon Barton; and three sisters, Betty Bond, Merle Boyd, and Norma Barton.

Those left to cherish her memory include her four children: Linda Diane Church (Benny), Carolyn Compton (Ronnie), Danny O’Quinn (Portia), and Jeff O’Quinn (Heather); nine grandchildren Jarrod O’Quinn, Jordan Compton, Whitney Compton, Hannah Church, Dannan O’Quinn, Peyton O’Quinn, Jon Sutherland, Olivia O’Quinn and Deacon O’Quinn ; eight great-grandchildren, Laila Fuller, Waylyn Fleming, Zoey Compton, Myla Compton, Jett Compton, Danica Sutherland, Ella Sutherland, and Ryker Sutherland; one sister, Laura Nemer; brother-in-laws, Emory O’Quinn and Eddie O’Quinn; sister-in-law, Lucy O’Quinn; as well as many special nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, Virginia, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 P.M. officiated by Rev. Jerry A. Eggers. Interment will follow going in procession to Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Danny O’Quinn, Jeff O’Quinn, Ronnie Compton, Jon Sutherland, Benny Church, Jarrod Church, Jordan Compton, Dannan O’Quinn, and Peyton O’Quinn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Barton, Dave Meadows, Mike O’Quinn, Scottie O’Quinn, Greg O’Quinn, Keith O’Quinn, Don Barton, Eddie O’Quinn, and Emory O’Quinn.
