Mrs. Hazel Catron Jackson, 96, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Valley Health and Rehab in Chilhowie, Virginia.
Hazel was born July 20, 1926, to the late Maynard Wayne Catron, Sr. and Eva Virginia Peake Catron. She was an employee of Norfolk and Western Railway and then Norfolk Southern Railway for 44 ½ years before retiring in 1989. Hazel loved to quilt and crochet, never missed her granddaughter's sporting events, enjoyed traveling, and entering in sweepstakes.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Jackson, Sr.; one son, Fletcher Jackson, Jr.; one sister, Mary Keyes; two brothers, Bill Catron and Wayne "Shorty" Catron, Jr.
Hazel is survived by one daughter, Darlene Duncan and husband Fred; two grandchildren, Ashley Cannon and husband Steven and Brooke Monahan and husband Evan; four great grandchildren, Payton and Aidan Monahan and Trajan and Addison Cannon.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel with Dr. Darlene Litton officiating. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, Virginia. Those planning to attend are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 565 Glade Spring, VA 24340.
