Obituary

Goldie “Tiny” Merle Widner, 92, passed away peacefully at her home on April 17, 2026.

Goldie was born on January 10, 1934, to the late Simon and Margaret Rutherford. She was a devoted homemaker who found her greatest joy in caring for her family. Goldie especially cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Widner; one son, James Widner; one daughter, Rhonda Roberts; three brothers; two sisters; one great-granddaughter, Haley Neal; and one great-grandson, Blake Wright.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Margaret Hawkins (Marvin), Sharon Blevins (Billy), and Rita Johnson (Dennis); daughter-in-law, Myrtle Jones; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Hall; special niece, Gail Lawson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to their neighbors, Glenn and Tammy Baumgardner, Hank Sinclair, Patty Sinclair, and Tucker Sinclair, and Duff Parks and grandson, for their kindness and support during this time. Also, her special caregivers, staff of Amedisys Home Health and granddaughters, Heather Blevins and Natasha Lewis.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Frost Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 5:00 P.M. with Pastor Junior Gobble officiating. A committal service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Greenwood Cemetery in Alvarado, Va. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jamie Widner, Craig Hawkins, Chad Hawkins, Russ Adams, Derek Johnson, and Keith Phelps.

Honorary pallbearers will be Duff Parks, Glen Baumgardner, Cody Martelli and Nick Lewis.

Goldie will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to her family, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her.
