Rev. Fred L. Reynolds, Sr. of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Banner and Dorothy Reynolds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Fred was the pastor of Flat Rock Community Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a man loved by all. He most enjoyed preaching the word of God. Fred gave his life to the Lord on September 25, 1965. In July 1966, God called upon him to preach. He pastored several churches during his ministry, was an evangelist and went to Nicaragua on two missionary trips. God always provided his needs.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Doris Gay Reynolds; one son, Fred. L. Reynolds, Jr.; two daughters, Rebecca Reynolds (Jim Conley) and Elizabeth Reynolds (fiancé, Larry Verbal); one grandson, Brandon Metcalfe and his special fur baby, Trump. Other survivors include two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday in the chapel with Brothers Daniel Hoss, Ellis Whited and Steve Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jim Conley, Jackie Boger, Billy Boger III, Jack Smile, Lynn Campbell and Brandon Metcalfe. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Verbal, Billy Boger, Jr. and all area ministers.
